UIO12 - Meeting of Styles: International Street Art & Graffiti

In recent years Ecuador expiriences an increasing rate of Graffiti due to mechanization and internationalisation taking place in all sectors of human activity. Time for the MOS to support the national urban culture-scene.

Quito, formally San Francisco de Quito, is the capital city of Ecuador, and at an elevation of 2.800 meters above sea level it is the highest capital city in the world.

Artists from all over South- and latin-America have confirmed their participation.

Quito is located in north-central Ecuador in the Guayllabamba river basin, on the eastern slopes of Pichincha, an active stratovolcano in the Andes mountains.

With a population of more than 3.3million people in the metropolitan area, Quito is the second most populous city in Ecuador, after Guayaquil.

In the last three years several events made Graffiti and urban art part a well recognised part. These events have had involvement of local artists from different cities of Ecuador as well as international artists from Mexico, Italy, Germany, Venezuela, Colombia, Peru and Chile, giving added value to the cities and sharing knowledge in painting and other artistic techniques for the entire public.
