In celebration of its 50th birthday, SCHIRN Frankfurt presents “THE CULTURE,” an immersive exhibition delving into the transformative influence of Hip-Hop on contemporary art and culture. Emerging from the Bronx in the 1970s, Hip-Hop evolved as a cultural movement among Black and Latin American youth, finding expression in MC-ing, DJ-ing, Graffiti, and Breakdance.
From its early days, Hip-Hop challenged established structures and cultural narratives, providing a platform for diasporic experiences and alternative power dynamics. Today, this global phenomenon has left an indelible mark on music, fashion, technology, and the visual and performing arts.
The Frankfurt exhibition is complemented by an extensive program, offering a deep dive into the early Hip-Hop culture in Germany. Through presentations, discussions, and workshops, attendees can actively engage with and experience the cultural richness that Hip-Hop embodies.
Join us for THE CULTURE, a groundbreaking exhibition that not only commemorates the 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop but also preserves and celebrates its vibrant evolution for generations to come.
