Hello, hello! I’m María Fernanda Martínez, known as “MAFFEE,” a passionate colombian illustrator with over 10 years of experience creating visual works that aim to transform the world through experimental art.
I specialize in illustration, motion graphics, and 3D, with a particular focus on muralism, live painting, and mapping. My training and experience in design and illustration allow me to deliver exceptional results in creative projects, spanning a wide range of graphic and audiovisual media. This has given me the ability to integrate different forms of art.
At this point in my career, the constant quest for professional growth has led me to direct my perspective toward more specific fields and proposals that allow me to channel and satisfy my creativity.
My artistic approach to muralism is characterized by a figurative style, using vibrant colors and clean lines to create compositions that invite admiration. The main feature is conceiving the unreal as normal, merging everyday life and urban living with the magical and magnificent aspects of feminine activities. Each piece pays homage and is dedicated to the women who inspire me daily, seeking to represent the magical realism promoted by Gabriel García Márquez.
I’d like to highlight my participation in the exciting “Mappillage” project in 2019, where I explored Face Mapping and real-time visuals in an interactive show. This experience not only deeply impacted the audience but also marked a significant milestone in my career, sparking an even greater interest in illustration.
My recent experience includes my involvement in the “Con las Ruedas Bien Puestas 2024” project, where I created a large-format mural in collaboration with the skate community in Bogotá. The result, “La Malcriada,” accompanied by the phrase “patina como chica,” highlights the female role in the urban scene. Another representative piece from 2023 is “Madame Remedios,” where I participated in creating a mural during the Mural Marathon in Public Space, a flagship event of the Open Museum of Bogotá. These pieces reflect my current interest in both visual and conceptual aspects.
@SINESTADO_art is the account where I showcase my evolution as a muralist, both individually and collectively with my life partner. In addition to this, I am a co-founder of @SANTASIESTA.studio, a creative studio based in Bogotá and Barcelona, where we create content for live shows, mapping, and new media. I also complement my passion for illustration with tattoo art at @MAFFEE.art.
This is not an end but a continuation of my evolution. I continue the search for spaces to leave my mark in many cities, where I can portray and represent my “40 tías,” as I call the girls I depict. In this way, I continue to transform the world through art.
