Creativity and experience

Damyan Nikolov, known by his artistic pseudonym as “kemsa.rt”, is from Dobrich, Bulgaria. He started developing his skills in street art and graffiti culture at the age of 16. Shortly after graduation, he decided to establish himself as an artist and looked for opportunities to pass on knowledge to younger people and transform the urban environment. For the last 5 years, the biggest part of his time has been dedicated to developing painting and artistic skills. In 2016 he won the first place in a graffiti competition organized in Sofia, Bulgaria. In 2019 he launched its own idea to create an association and school, called “Bulgarian Graffiti School”, and still holds the graffiti community in Bulgaria, based in Varna. The same year he organized a national graffiti festival named “Graffiti Universe” with international participants, transforming one of the biggest subways in the city of Varna. In 2020 he managed to implement the project “Mural as a hidden message” painting on the wall of a 4-storey building in the city of Varna, Bulgaria. In 2021 he participated in the international festival “Meetings of styles” held in Prishtina, Republic of Kosovo, and later that year he implemented the project “On the other side” with dimensions of over 300 square meters in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, project for “Plovdiv2019”. Damyan organizes and participates in outdoor and indoor workshops in the cities of Varna, Dobrich and Shumen, Bulgaria. He had also participated in a charity exhibition, which donated all of the funds for the homeless and the socially disadvantaged, all paintings from the workshop organized in the city of Dobrich, Bulgaria are created with the participation of young artists. Painting on different surfaces is always a challenge for an artist, in this regard the level he reaches alone over the years and develops different types of painting techniques with brushes, markers, spray paint, airbrush, watercolors, dry pastels and more, is of an essential importance. For the last 5 years he has been one of the biggest attractions in the center of Varna, Bulgaria, painting outdoors and giving everyone a chance to try and touch his art. In 2021 works together with the best portrait painters in the city of Varna, Bulgaria to improve his skills. Now in 2023 he is part of a number of festivals, organizing and leading events to develop graffiti culture.
