Vueltas

I am a tattoo and graffiti artist based in Costa Rica. I grew up between Washington D.C and Costa Rica. Growing up between these urban and tropical settings has shaped my bold, graphic and colorful style. I enjoy painting portraits, animals, particularly cats and nature but color tends to be my biggest inspiration. Even when I try not to be so colorful it just seems to ooze out. I attribute this to growing up enveloped by all the beautiful colors in the flora, fauna and sunsets of Costa Rica. Painting colorful things as a child became my coping mechanism to withstand the drab winters which would receive me after my winter breaks spent in Costa Rica. It was a way to stay connected to the warmth of Costa Rica in the sterility of the suburbs of D.C. and has since been a staple in my art. But for as much as I love the jungles of Costa Rica I love the urban jungle just as much. Nothing fills me with more joy then the hunt and adventure of a good spot or walking miles late at night with friends painting up the town. As cliche as it sounds graffiti changed my life, deeply enriching it and opening up beautiful experiences and opportunities for me. As someone who was always a loner it has also given me community. A way to connect with others beyond the mundanity of the day to day or just partying. I feel blessed to be surrounded by so many talented and passionate people who inspire me and have helped me grow so much artistically. I am excited to see just how far graffiti/muraling/tattooing can take me and all the future artists I will meet. Traveling abroad to paint is next on my list in my graffiti/mural journey <3
