Ms.Yellow (Nuria Ortiz) is a self-taught Mexican-American muralist, teaching artist and curator from Carson, California. She has dedicated her time to the creative development and empowerment of communities, working closely with schools, galleries, orgs and museums to develop art classes, murals & mentorship to the youth.
Ms.Yellow has taught and created murals globally in 13 countries from Haiti and Poland to Egypt, Japan, El Salvador and beyond, creating bridges and conversation through the power of art. She has mentored a wide range of students, who have launched their own art and mural careers afterwards.
In addition, she has curated art shows and public art projects such as the Utility Box Project in Wilmington, Ca and the Casa Bonita mural initiative in Mexico, where she connected artists with homes to create impactful murals.
Ms.Yellow has also collaborated with numerous brands and organizations, creating works for Doritos/NFL, LA GALAXY, Adidas, GETTY Museum, Nordstrom, METRO, Stagecoach, Apple, El Torito, Long Beach Airport, El Paso Museum of Art, and the Museum of Latin American Art just to name a few.
Her professional work spans 17 years with the focal theme of her artwork centering on culture, folklore, mental health, female empowerment, identity, love and social justice.
