A visual artist born in Montréal with Haitian roots, MALICIOUZ develops a practice grounded in the legacies of the Black diaspora. Her work places spiritual presence at its core, portraying magnified, almost sacred figures that she chooses to canonize through painting. She also highlights elements of daily life that shape her Afro-diasporic culture — gestures, objects, symbols — often unconsciously elevated to a sacred status.
Her contemporary afro-urban approach is characterized by a fusion of acrylic brushwork, raw street aesthetics, and the delicacy of airbrush techniques.
Alongside her studio practice, she also creates murals in public spaces. These works feature monumental figures, anchored in compositions that aim to awaken the vital essence of those who encounter them. Color is used symbolically, resonating with its psychological and spiritual dimensions. Her murals can be seen in Montréal, New York, Port-au-Prince, Jacmel, Abidjan, and Douala.
