Janin Garcin
I’m a Mexican visual artist with over a decade of career specialization in mural and large-format painting. I hold a BA in Graphic Design by the Habitat Studies Faculty at the San Luis Potosí Autonomous University.
The visuals, colors, and textures that spring from my hands, drenched in my vision and emotions, have taken me on travels across 28 states in Mexico, Latin American countries such as Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Cuba, and Germany, France, Denmark and Spain in Europe.
During my 10-year-long career in mural and graffiti arts, I have collaborated on urban art workshops and interventions alongside public and private entities in Mexico, such as the Secretariat of Education, the Secretariat for Agricultural, Territorial and Urban Development, the National Housing Fund, the U.S. Embassy in Mexico, the Culture Secretariats at the states of Jalisco and Nuevo León, the Mexico City Historic Center Trust, the Spanish Cultural Centre in Mexico, as well as an upcoming collaboration with the National Museum of Mexican Art in Chicago.
Local collaborations in the city of San Luis Potosí include the San Luis Potosí Arts Center, the Contemporary Art Museum, the Potosino Institute of Fine Arts, the French Alliance, the Labyrinth Museum of Arts and Sciences, Francisco Cossío Museum, among others.
I have also done work for international and local brands including Adidas, the NBA, Amazon, Spalding, Montana Colors, Corona Beer, Minerva Brewery, 7B Brewery, 360 Spraypaint.
The study of the rules and composition of images has helped me recapture the dynamism present in the streets, neighborhoods, and communities. From a young age I understood that walls can speak, communicate and are also part of the identity of their inhabitants.
