Felipe Álvaro “Mofas”
Palhoça, Santa Catarina
Artist, graffiti artist and designer.
Born in Palhoça (1988), he grew up in the metropolitan region
from Florianópolis and from an early age became involved with the culture of
Skateboarding. From 2008 onwards, influenced by the scene
emerging area of graffiti in the region, he began painting on the streets
independently, mixing classic references from
graffiti with plural lived experiences and art forms
as a skateboarder and citizen of the southern Brazilian coast.
Between walls, paper, screens and “pixels”, his works range from
physical to digital to propose a reflection on the subject, the
human nature, its philosophies and relationships with the past,
present and future. Through the themes, compositions and
symbols, the creations bring a juxtaposition between the
ancestral and contemporary, giving shape to the imagination
through an intuitive and contrasting gesture of expression.
As the son of a fisherman, skateboarder, artist and Latin American,
seeks in his street and studio works to provoke the public
to research and own interpretations, inviting
an experience of discovery and curiosity about the
thoughts and mysteries of human nature and its
societies.
