Imad Bekkair, known artistically as Apollon, embodies a journey where passion and creativity transcend borders. Born in Ghardaïa in the 1995s, his fascination with calligraphy began in Quranic school, where friendly competitions with classmates sparked a lifelong devotion to artistic expression. Even as a student, his imagination transformed everyday spaces—desks, walls, and classrooms—into canvases, hinting at the bold path he would later pursue.
After completing a degree in Urban Planning, Apollon chose to follow his true calling: art and travel. Self‑taught and driven by curiosity, he began painting in the streets of the cities he visited, drawing inspiration from diverse cultures and traditions. Coming from a region celebrated for its rich heritage, he viewed travel not only as exploration but as a way to connect with people through linguistic and cultural exchange. Each encounter enriched his artistic vision, shaping works that reflect both his roots and the influences of the world.
Since 2016, Apollon has participated in numerous urban art festivals and exhibitions, particularly across the Maghreb. His collaborations highlight a commitment to preserving cultural heritage, including projects in the Saharan Atlas aimed at passing down traditions admired worldwide. Among his notable achievements is his partnership with the Mexican Embassy in Algeria, further cementing his role as a cultural ambassador. His murals now mark the landscapes of major Algerian cities and Tunisia, leaving a vibrant imprint of his journey.
From his beginnings in Ghardaïa to his international endeavors, Apollon’s story is one of resilience, ambition, and artistic freedom. His work invites audiences to see the world through his eyes—where calligraphy, heritage, and urban art converge into a narrative without borders. Through this vision, Apollon continues to elevate Algerian urban art onto the global stage
