Leonardo Salcedo (Babakid) is a Colombian visual artist, illustrator, and muralist with more than 15 years of experience, specializing in the development of urban art projects, illustration, sculpture, artistic installations, and character design. His work is characterized by a constant exploration of visual languages that move between abstraction and figuration, integrating influences from contemporary street art, tribal art, doodle art, and optical art.
His artistic practice is structured around two main lines of work: Babakid and 4K, which allow him to explore different creative territories and expand his visual universe from graphic expression to spatial and immersive experiences.
Babakid focuses on street art, illustration, and character design, where he has developed a distinctive visual language through muralism, illustrated works, and visual explorations rich in linear energy and organic composition. Within this project, he has also worked on character creation and toy design, bringing his ideas from two-dimensional formats into objects and sculptures, expanding his relationship with collectible art and the production of unique pieces.
His graphic language, known as โNick Trip,โ is based on the exploration of line as a living system, generating organic compositions where chaos and structure coexist in balance. He continues to develop mural and installation projects that explore the connection between culture, territory, and visual perception through a contemporary and experimental perspective.
4K represents his practice expanded into spatial and experiential dimensions, where he develops visual art projects, stage design, artistic installations, and large-scale interventions. Within this platform, he integrates recycled materials, immersive structures, and scenographic solutions aimed at transforming environments into visual and sensory experiences. This project allows him to investigate the relationship between art, space, and narrative, connecting the visual with the performative and environmental.
