Graffiti has undergone a remarkable transformation in recent years. What began as simple tags has evolved into ambitious, intricate works that rival traditional forms of art.

In Mexico, graffiti is deeply intertwined with a much older tradition of public art. From the iconic muralist movement that gave voices to the struggles, hopes, and identities of the people, to today’s graffiti walls alive with color and urgency, both share a common spirit: art in the streets, art for everyone.

San Luis Potosí, with its vibrant cultural heritage and strong artistic community, has become a fertile ground for this dialogue. Here, murals and graffiti are not only visual expressions but also reflections of the city’s rebellious, creative, and inclusive spirit.

Ultimately, graffiti remains a language of protest and nonconformity—a rebellious art form that may be misunderstood, but will always carry the pulse of the streets and the voice of those who refuse to be silent.

El arte de hacer grafitis ha evolucionado mucho en los últimos tiempos. En un principio, se trataba de meras firmas de grafiteros para, más adelante, convertirse en obras mucho más ambiciosas y complejas. Precisamente, es este desarrollo ulterior lo que nos lleva a preguntarnos si el grafiti es arte o vandalismo.

El grafiti está fuertemente vinculado con la protesta y el inconformismo (es ese carácter subversivo lo que nos lleva a plantearnos si el grafiti es arte o vandalismo). Sea como fuere, esta forma de expresión nunca podrá desligarse de cierto aire rebelde e incomprendido.
